Green shirt : “Green Earth, Green Shirt “ (Transcript: ) My name is Grace, and my business is Green Shirt. Green Shirt is a subscription box for used clothing allowing consumers to pick and keep desired styles. When customers want another style, they can exchange the clothes for others styles. (which is dry cleaned every time) They can also buy, sell and swap on the site. Why clothing ? It is a big Market worth nearly $3 trillion. This will solve problems by Breaking the Consumer Cycle: Consumers throw away clothing an average of 70 pounds per person, annually. By promoting reuse, they won't go to landfill. It's important since North America is the largest global importer of garments; nearly 40% of products sold are imported from China. It Takes more than 5,000 gallons of water to make a shirt and jeans. Textiles is the one of the most wasteful industry in China, discharging over 2.5 billion tons of waste annually 1b) On a Global perspective: there are environmental and ethical issues. 1c)Many clothing organizations deceive the public , as they portray a “clothing defecit” when in reality 90% of clothing isn't sold, due to overstock and thus exported, landing up in landfills. My goal is to invest 20% profits into the environment. My customers are Millennials, Gen Z, but including all ages who wanna look fab for less. 2a) Studies show that 64% of Women Bought or Are Now Willing to Buy Secondhand Products 56M women bought second hand products in 2018, up from 44M in 2017. The chart below shows that 1 in 3 generation Z’s will buy second hand clothing in 2019. Thus there is a high supply, and big demand. On a Local Perspective fast fashion changes styles rapidly, with high costs, shopping is difficult! Going second hand supports local economies and gives Millenials a say on environmental issues. This business will succeed because it is cost effective, eco friendly and on trend. Dry cleaning ensures top quality. The clothing will be sold direct to consumer and scaled using affordable large scale shipping regarding rates.) using website promotion allows consumers to buy, and swaps. Consumers need this since its fast and affordable for millenials to feel good about their clothing. This supports sustainable, ethical changes in our country, by preventing waste, which burdens third world countries. The second hand industry in third world countries already is preventing the textile economies from fashion is taking over, it's time to stop being a consumer, by taking action.
