Hello! I’m Parker Lily, Julia, Rachel and Sofia and we are the heads of the Etobicoke Fashion Show and creators of this year's Fashion Magazine Crushed Vol 2. Crushed Vol is a magazine and a platform for emerging fashion-based innovators to respond to the industry in contemporary forms. This magazine will be a collection of works all in the realm of fashion. Our magazine will be the second volume in a series, as Crushed Vol 1 was created last year by the heads of the Etobicoke Fashion Show. Anyone and everyone will be allowed to submit to Crushed Vol 2 as long as you go to Etobicoke School of the Arts, and your work falls under our general theme; fashion. Works can take the form of visual arts pieces, poetry, photography, scans from sketchbooks, artist write-ups and written pieces/articles all pertaining to fashion. Having a wide range of artistic mediums as well as artists contributing is important because we can use the magazine as an informative way to express views and new perspectives on relevant topics, especially showcasing perspectives that may not always be heard. We will touch on topics such as diversity, or lack there of in the modelling industry, intersectionality in fashion, the effects of fast fashion and poor working conditions, and the need for vegan and sustainable fashion brands. Crushed Vol 2 will be a tool for inspiration, especially for young artists, designers, models and really anyone who is a part of this fast paced consumer based society. It will also push all of us to have more open discussions and engage deeper to learn about the current state of the fashion industry. Our magazine will succeed because Fashion is a huge part of the culture at ESA and extremely popular with not only ESA students but teens and young adults all over Toronto. The magazine will be an amazing way to showcase underrepresented youth, in order to promote their work. Also, collaborating on this magazine will give them a platform to gain connections and expose themselves to the industry. The target audience for this product is students at Etobicokes School of the Arts, especially whom have an interest in fashion, photography or art. We will also be selling our magazine at this years Etobicoke Fashion Show which we are running, and possibly sell to parents of students involved as well as guests of the events. In Crushed Vol 2 we showcase the art and ideas of the next generation of creatives taking over the fashion industry.
