PlushMarks is a ribbon bookmark with felt plushies attached at each end. On the PlushMarks website, users will be able to post their artwork, aiming to reach milestones for likes in order to receive special discounts. I plan to implement a contest on the website that grants users the opportunity to create their own PlushMark designs. With this business idea, I am pushing for creativity and customization in the accessories market.

As I search for creativity within my community, cheap plastic bookmarks and easily ripped sticky notes improvised as bookmarks fail to satisfy the customers looking for creativity and customization. Hello everyone, my name is Kathleen Sun and I’m the founder of Plushmarks. PlushMarks is a ribbon bookmark with plushies attached at each end. It firmly hooks around the book without injuring the spine and is a tie-able accessory equipped with the ability to glow-in-the-dark. The ribbon and felt materials make PlushMarks, soft, light and children friendly. To start off, I will be test selling nature, food, music, and anime themed designs that can be customized on the PlushMarks website by material and colour to meet the preferences of teenagers aged 10 to 18. On the PlushMarks website, users will also be able to share their art to inspire each other. Similar to Instagram, you will be able to like the work of others, which is only available to those who signed into their email. There will be special discounts for surpassing milestones for 100 likes and over. I see the opportunity of executing a contest on the PlushMarks website where users can compete with their own original PlushMarks designs. This will be unique to Plushmarks and will really take advantage of the rising trend of customization. Every season, I will choose three winners and ask for their permission to create and sell their designs. In return, I will send a copy to the artists for free. As an artist myself, I can understand their delight and pride when holding a physical product of their creation. This business idea can become a reality with the grant of $750, and through sharing of this product. We expect the revenue of $1100 in our first year with over 400 Plushmarks sold. This is achievable through online selling and my determination. PlushMarks pushes the trend of customizability by combining artistic talent with plushie bookmarks to spark up a unique market.
