The DOT is a mini GPS chip that parents can purchase in order to keep track of their children in case of emergencies. The DOT can be connected to the parents mobile device so they can monitor their child whenever it is necessary through the mobile app. However, what makes it special besides its size, is that the it is able to work without Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. The DOT does this by connecting to nearby cell phone towers in order to gain and produce a signal, similar to how SIM cards function.

Khalen- In 2017, there were 47,168 reports of missing children in Canada as reported by the RCMP using numbers provided by the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC). According to the National Centre for Missing Persons and Unidentified Remains (NCMPUR), 57% of all missing children/youth reports involve females, 76% of missing children/youth reports (male and female) are runaways, 61% of missing children/youth reports were removed within 24 hours, while 91% were removed within a week, 61% of all missing persons reports (male and female, adults and children) involve children. Alyssa- While thinking about the current dangers in Canada and all of the recent crimes, specifically child abduction, we thought to ourselves “what could we do to stop this?”. That led to the creation of our outstanding new product. The product idea we stumbled upon is more of an innovation than an invention, it is an improvement to the modern GPS system that caters to the need of our current society. Michael- Introducing the Digital offline tracker, also known as the DOT. The DOT is a circular mini GPS chip that parents and guardians can purchase in order to keep track of their children in case of emergencies. The DOT can be connected to the parents or guardian’s mobile device so they can effectively monitor their child whenever it is necessary through the mobile app. However, what makes the DOT special, besides its size, is that the DOT is able to work without Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. The DOT does this by connecting to nearby cell phone towers in order to gain and produce a signal, similar to how cell phone SIM cards work. So once the technology is placed inside the DOT, not only will you be able to use Bluetooth and the application to track it, you may also use the power of cellphone towers to track it virtually anywhere your provider can reach. Khalen- Individuals are to take the chip out, place the packaged adhesive on the bottom of the DOT chip, and place them on an inconspicuous area on their child’s body so potential criminals could not simply take it off. Once placed securely the further instructions are also quite simple and are inside a manual. Alyssa- When you purchase the DOT, the package is complete with the Digital offline tracker, the instruction manuals, the adhesive, adhesive remover, and a wireless charging station. Michael- In conclusion the DOT is a revolutionary new device we created in order to truly help parents keep track of their children effectively and maintain their safety.
