Although in this day and age we live in a world filled with opportunities for money making, most of it is locked behind the huge barrier of work experience. So in the eyes of the average teenager or non-working man, how is one even able to rack up man-hours when the only jobs available are one-off odd jobs that won’t be accounted for? Guess that brings us to me. I’m a 16 year old high school student named Justin M Lu, and for my MYP submission, I’ll be creating an app called Errand. Errand is an app that synchronizes one-off jobs in the local community. Within every account, you’ll be able to list and track jobs you want done, as well as find and accept jobs from others for cash. Because quantity isn’t all, we’ve also added a rating system based on how efficient and well you’ve completed the jobs taken on in your past. Errand is powerful in its ability to network and weave local communities into productive exchanges of, well, errands! All while providing teens and adults with the labor experience they need to kick start their careers, and earn money doing so! Over time, one will find that the various jobs they’ve accepted will rack up into genuine and presentable labour service, thanks to Errand’s tracking ability for the quality and completion of a job. Due to nature of Errand’s odd jobs as well, busy teens will now have a productive, no-strings-attached way of making money on the side. Errand will be free to use. In order to make profit and keep Errand running however, we collect both ad revenue and a small 3-6% fee per job, depending on external factors. Finally, in order to keep things safe, users will be required to submit ID, which will then be verified before being able to accept and request jobs. I’m Justin and this is Errand: odd jobs done evenly!
