Luna land is a platform and safe space in the form of a blog and website for any female identifying creatives to express themselves and their experiences freely and share their medium of art working in a male dominated industry. Artists are able to submit work through emailing submissions to myself, and they will be chosen to be a featured on the site! Any medium is welcome, whether it be poetry, dancing, singing, or painting, etc. Luna Land provides the space for these women to gain exposure, and to be heard in an industry where they may not be. My customers will consist of teens interested and inspired by art as well as event planners or hosts, or local gallery owners to provide opportunities for the featured artists!. People can freely browse the site and get to know local female identifying artists and even purchase merchandise from the site or directly from the artist! Although submissions are exclusive to female identifying artists, anybody is welcome to view and promote it! Luna Land is not a place for stating that female identifying artists are better than male ones, nor is it trying to put women on a pedestal higher than men, it is simply honouring female artists as they live in the shadows of men in their industry. This platform solves the problem that women have in a male dominated industry where they may feel silenced by their male competitors and unheard. It provides recognition and exposure to these artists, and it is completely free! In the art world, Women working across arts professions make almost $20,000 less per year than men and women make 81 cents for every dollar that a man makes in the same industry. I decided to create Luna Land as a way to combat these statistics and provide a space and opportunity for female artists to feel heard in the industry we are producing work within. Wanting a space to showcase my own artwork, I remembered the thousands of female artists that are probably trying to do the same, so I decided to create something for all of us. I am an experienced visual artist and art is something that I am so extremely passionate about and something that I want to be able to pursue and make an income off of. Luna Land will be successful because it is creating a community of artists to support and guide one another to a path of success and opportunity and can make money through singing this artists on and selling their work. I hope to see some of you on Luna Land soon. And remember, stay awake in the garden!
