My name is Hannah Ruuth, I am seventeen and the founder of Youth Inspire Canada.
Canada is home to 4.6 million young people, who from coast to coast to coast are impacted by government policy.
Youth Inspire Canada is an app and website that provides non-partisan information and background contest on current affairs, The organization aims to summarize current events into simple comprehensible language new voters will be able to understand.
Profits will be generated through paid online advertisements.
Youth Inspire is targeting the issue of low voter turnout. In the 2015 federal election only 57% of youth voted, if these trends continue, our democracy will be jeopardized. Many citizens do not vote because they find politics confusing and have limited time to follow and navigate the cycle of real and fake news. Youth Inspire is a simplistic option where you can obtain all the information you need to develop an educated opinion. In addition, Youth Inspire will feature leadership opportunities and events for youth to become engaged in their communities. It will also feature testimonies from youth who are generating social change across the country.
My business, Youth Inspire will succeed because it is the only news source directed at new voters. Unlike, our competition we can provide background context leading up to new policy, creating a comprehensive platform. The demand is endless, there are always people approaching voter age or seeking to educate themselves about Canadian policies that shape their everyday lives.
I need you judges to help start a pan- Canadian movement, unite 4.6 million powerful young voices and support active young citizenship.
