Video Submission Period Opens:
The video submission period opens for the Young Entrepreneurs, Make Your Pitch competition.
Video Submission Deadline:
The submission period for all video entries closes. All entries must include a signed letter of consent and a typed transcript.
Online Voting Period Opens:
Submitted videos are posted to the website. To increase the number of votes, students are encouraged to promote their videos on social media.
Expert Judging:
Videos are sent to expert judges from across Ontario. Expert judges' scores, combined with the number of public votes, determine the competition finalists.
Online Voting Period Closes:
The online voting period closes at 1:00 p.m.
Announcement of Finalists:
The 20 finalists are announced on social media and in a news release issued by Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE).
Finalists Travel to Toronto:
The 20 finalists travel to Toronto for three days to attend OCE's Discovery conference and pitch their idea live to a judging panel.
Entrepreneurial Boot Camp:
The finalists attend a one-day entrepreneurship boot camp at the OneEleven accelerator to prepare for the live pitch at Discovery.
Discovery:
The finalists attend Discovery, Canada's leading innovation-to-commercialization conference, hosted by Ontario Centres of Excellence.
Live Pitch:
Each finalist delivers a three-minute pitch to a live audience and a panel of expert judges. The pitch is followed by a two-minute question-and-answer period.
Awards Ceremony:
Six winners are selected and presented with awards during the luncheon at Discovery.

Young Entrepreneurs, Make Your Pitch – Awards for 20 finalists:

  • Admission to Discovery in Toronto on May 15 - 16, 2017 at Metro Toronto Convention Centre
  • Entrepreneurship activities and networking

Six winners will receive:

  • Based on the live pitches, the judges select six winners who are presented with reserved entry into the Summer Company program along with an award suite to be announced.
  • Reserved entry into the Summer Company program, including:
  • Business plan development and consultation
  • Mentorship
  • An award of up to $3,000 to start your business*

In the case of a winning team, a team representative will be presented with the awards and it will be their responsibility to divide them among the team.

* To qualify for funding through Summer Company, winners must meet all of the Summer Company Program Guidelines. If a winner does not qualify for the Summer Company program, an equivalent in support will be provided (i.e., Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE), Regional Innovation Centre (RIC) or Small Business Enterprise Centre (SBEC) services).
